Rancho Family YMCA Community Service Club: Y-Serve!


Our mission: To promote social responsibility by improving our local community as Ambassadors of the YMCA.

We are actively recruiting members to form our Y-Serve club and to select our first group Community Service Project!

Rancho Family YMCA

Produce Drop-off Location


The Backyard Produce Project is a volunteer food distribution program that helps needy families in Rancho Bernardo, Poway and Rancho Penasquitos. By collecting fresh fruits and vegetables from drop-off locations like ours, they provide supplemental fresh food to over 50 families in the community each month.

**You can help by donating your backyard produce at your Rancho Family YMCA drop-off each Monday!**

When: Mondays
Where: Rancho Family YMCA lobby
Time: 6am-6pm


A project of Palomar Pomerado Health's Community Action Council in partnership with PPH Healthy Food Drive and Friends and Family Community Connection.

DO SOMETHING GOOD, VOLUNTEER AT THE YMCA!

At the YMCA, your time and talent go a long way. Each hour you spend as a YMCA Volunteer contributes to Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility in our community. Here are a few ideas to get you started!

Youth Development
  • Volunteer as a Sport's Assistant or Coach.
  • Sponsor a child for Summer Camp.
  • Assist with a childcare program during Parent's Night Out.

Healthy Living
  • Lead Group exercise classes with members.
  • Lead a wellness interest club such as running or hiking.
  • Become a Swim Instructor or Assistant Lifeguard.

Social Responsibility
  • Join the YMCA Community Service Club.
  • Serve on a policy committee, contributing to YMCA initiatives.
  • Assist through labor to paint, clean or improve facility.
  • Assist with fund raising to support financial assistance and children with special needs.

No matter how you help, you'll make a big difference as you work with others to create a feeling of connectedness in your community.



Program Volunteer Qualifications & Process
  • Program Volunteers must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Completion of a Program Volunteer Application Packet, available at the Member Services Desk.
  • Return your application to the Member Services Desk and the Volunteer Coordinator will contact you.
  • A background check is required and a minimum of three references will be checked.
  • Once approved, the Volunteer will sign a job description and complete an online Child Abuse Prevention training.

Student Volunteer Qualifications & Process

  • Student Volunteers must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
  • Completion of a Student Volunteer Application Packet, available at the Member Services Desk.
  • Return your application to the Member Services Desk and the Volunteer Coordinator will contact you.
  • A background check is required and a minimum of three references will be checked. (Student references can include teachers, coaches, clergy etc. where work experience is not applicable.)
  • A 2 hour online Child Abuse Prevention educational component is required and will count towards your community services hours completed.
  • Please allow at least 2-4 weeks for your application to be processed for community or civic service hours.
